How to choose your DNS setup method in the Control Center

Hosting account creation starts after payment and domain confirmation. You can then connect the domain while preparing your website. Keep my DNS provider is the default; Use Lucid nameservers moves authoritative DNS here. Neither choice transfers domain registration or copies an existing website.

Open My Account > Hosting services (or Services), select the correct service and website, and expand Get your hosting ready. Its Connect your domain step is also available under the website's DNS & SSL section.

Keep your current DNS provider #

1. Choose Keep my DNS provider. Wait for the hosting account and its exact address records to load. Use Refresh live details if requested; do not guess a hosting IP.
2. At your current DNS provider, publish the displayed @ and www A records. Replace conflicting A, AAAA, or CNAME destinations instead of adding another destination. Use TTL Auto or 3600 as the setup instructions specify.
3. Add mail, admin, and webmail addresses only for the corresponding services you use. Keep existing external email records. Copy the displayed MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records only when moving email to Lucid.
4. In Cloudflare, set web records to DNS only until website verification and SSL are complete. Keep mail and control-panel addresses DNS-only. Cloudflare explains that DNS-only records expose the origin address directly.
5. Return and choose Check DNS records. Only @ and www are checked for website readiness; email has separate checks.

Use Lucid nameservers #

1. Choose Use Lucid nameservers and wait for the hosting account to be ready.
2. Save your existing DNS records. Prepare any external email and third-party verification records in the destination zone, using support if needed. Coordinate DNSSEC with the registrar; existing records and DS settings do not migrate automatically.
3. At your registrar, replace the nameservers with the exact set displayed in setup.
4. Return and choose Check nameservers. Once delegation is confirmed, the setup flow checks the local zone and adds missing hosting address records. Use Recheck hosting records if that action appears.

Verify completion: Confirm Connect your domain is complete, then finish Secure your site and test the website and email separately. Nameserver confirmation alone does not prove that address records work.

If a check fails: Review the displayed message, conflicting destinations, and cache time. Missing IP values, conflicting managed records, or unavailable nameservers need support review. Keep the old service until the move is verified.
