How to renew your domain before it expires

Renew a domain before its expiration date so the name can continue supporting your website and email. Domain renewal and hosting renewal are separate unless your specific offer states otherwise.

1. Open My Account > Domains and select the managed domain. Review its expiration and current status.
2. Open Renewals & transfer. Review the offered Term and total renewal price.
3. Select the term you want, choose Renew domain, and review the cart.
4. Complete checkout using an available payment method. Keep the order number.
5. Return to the domain details and check for the updated expiration date and any fulfillment message.

Confirm completion: A receipt shows that payment was received; the updated domain details confirm the renewal result. If the order is paid but the expiration has not changed, check for a review message and contact support before placing another order.

Does my domain renew automatically? The current customer domain purchase flow does not provide automatic renewal charging. Plan to place and pay for a renewal unless you have a separate, explicitly confirmed arrangement. A saved payment method or active hosting service does not establish domain auto-renewal.

Keep reminders reachable: Maintain accurate domain-contact and account email addresses, and keep your own renewal reminder. ICANN requires certain expiration notices for covered generic domains, but you should still monitor the expiration yourself. See ICANN's expiration and recovery guidance.

If the renewal form is missing: Check whether the domain is registered elsewhere, already has an operation awaiting review, or has expired. External domains are normally renewed with their current registrar. An expired managed domain can instead show Request restoration review.

If dates disagree: A public registry expiration and your registrar's expiration can differ in some lifecycle states. Use the account details and ask support to confirm the actual renewal deadline. Do not interpret a later public date as proof that your renewal invoice has been paid.
