Check the terms that apply to your service before requesting cancellation or a refund. Hosting, domain registrations, transfers, and certificates can have different conditions.
Prepare before cancellation #
- Identify the exact service, domain, order, and intended cancellation date.
- Download website files, database exports, email, and any configuration you need. Open the backup files and confirm that you can restore or import them.
- Complete any website, DNS, or mailbox move that must happen before the service ends.
- Decide separately whether you intend to keep, transfer, or stop renewing each domain.
- Use the cancellation control if your account offers one, or submit a request through the website's listed support channel.
Ask for confirmation of the effective date, future billing state, access until termination, and any data-retention terms. Do not assume a retention period or that support can recover deleted data later.
Request a refund #
Provide the order number, relevant item, reason, and the date the problem occurred. State whether you want to cancel, request a refund, or both. Support will need to assess the request under the applicable terms and the status of any registry or certificate operation.
An unused website does not itself undo a completed domain registration. A domain transfer and a hosting migration also have separate effects. Cancelling hosting does not automatically transfer the domain or cancel its registration.
Confirm completion #
Keep the written confirmation and any refund reference. Check the account for the agreed cancellation or subscription status. If a refund is approved, use the payment provider's information for its processing timeline.
Removing a saved payment method, deleting website files, or allowing a login to expire is not a reliable way to cancel a service. Use the explicit service cancellation process.
