Create an email mailbox in Control Center

A mailbox stores messages for an address such as hello@example.com. Create one when someone needs their own inbox and login. An alias is more suitable when another address should deliver to an existing inbox. Email hosting and the number of mailboxes available depend on your service.

Before starting, confirm where your domain receives email. Keep Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another provider unless you intend to migrate email. Enabling hosted email can change local mail handling and the Virtualmin zone; it does not move existing messages or update an external DNS provider.

1. In Control Center, open Hosting services, choose the domain's Manage website, then Email. Set up email and Manage email also open these controls. Confirm the selected domain.
2. If email is not enabled and your plan permits it, review Set up email for this domain. Select I want this domain to use Lucid-hosted email, then Enable email for this domain only when this is your intended mail provider.
3. Open Create email account. In Email address, enter only the part before @: 1-32 letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores, starting with a letter. The selected domain is appended for you.
4. Enter matching Mailbox password and Confirm password values of 12-128 characters without line breaks. Save the password securely; the dashboard does not retain or reveal mailbox passwords.
5. Select Create mailbox. This creates mail-only access. Storage follows server defaults and your hosting allowance. Mailbox slots are shared across all websites in this hosting service.
6. Copy the resulting Mailbox username for sign-in. Review Connect mail DNS before using the address for live email, then use Open webmail or the displayed email-app settings.

Check the result: Sign in through the supplied webmail service, if available. Send a message to an external address and reply from that address. Check both Inbox and Junk.

If it does not work: Missing creation controls can indicate exhausted shared slots, unverified inventory, or restricted permissions. If creation is uncertain, refresh the list before retrying; do not recreate an address that may already exist. Accounts with additional access remain in Virtualmin.
