How to manage domain privacy and verify your contact email

Privacy protection and contact verification serve different purposes. Privacy affects eligible public registration information; verification confirms that required contact details are reachable. Privacy does not remove your obligation to provide accurate registration information.

1. Open My Account > Domains, select the managed domain, and choose Lock & privacy.
2. If Privacy protection is available, select the desired state and choose Update privacy.
3. Reopen the section to confirm the saved result. Privacy availability depends on the extension and registry rules, so a rejected request does not mean the setting was enabled.
4. Open Contacts & verification. Choose the relevant contact and use Check contact verification if offered.
5. If verification is needed, use Request verification email and check that contact's mailbox, including spam folders.
6. Follow the verification link after checking that the message is legitimate. Return to the account and recheck the verification status.

Why verification matters: The registrar documents a contact-email verification process and a way to resend the message. Follow the deadline and instructions in the actual notice; an unverified registration can require action to avoid interruption. See DomainNameAPI's contact-verification documentation.

If the message does not arrive: Verify the contact email in the domain's own contact section. Check mailbox capacity, filtering, and whether the address can receive outside mail. Avoid sending repeated requests in rapid succession. Contact support with the domain and displayed verification status if delivery still fails.

If public information is still visible: Allow for cached public results and confirm the registry's privacy eligibility. Ask support what information the service protects for that extension. Privacy is not a guarantee of anonymity, and it does not hide content published on your website or in DNS.

For external domains: Use the current registrar's privacy and verification tools. A domain appearing alongside your hosting does not give this account permission to change its registrar settings.
