Payment and transfer completion are separate events. A domain can remain registered elsewhere while the transfer is being processed, and its hosting can continue using the existing nameservers.
- Open My Account > Domains and locate the domain. Clear filters or check additional pages if necessary.
- Open its details, then Renewals & transfer. Read the current message and open the related order.
- Check the mailbox used for domain contacts and any instructions from your current registrar. Review spam folders without forwarding sensitive transfer messages to others.
- If the current registrar reports a lock, invalid authorization code, or other rejection, save that message and contact support with your order number.
- Wait for the existing attempt to be resolved before placing another transfer order. Repeated purchases do not accelerate a pending registrar request.
| Account status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Transfer in progress | Monitor the domain and respond to required confirmations. |
| Transfer needs review | Contact support; the existing hosting link remains in place while staff check the result. |
| Transfer failed | Ask support to review the related order and rejection before retrying. |
| Managed domain / Active | Check registration controls, expiration, and service operation. |
Public status is supporting evidence: Registry status codes can help explain a problem. For example, pendingTransfer indicates a transfer request, while clientTransferProhibited indicates a registrar transfer restriction. An ordinary lock can have a different resolution from a registry restriction. See ICANN's status-code reference.
When a website still works: That does not prove the transfer finished; DNS can keep working throughout. Likewise, a website outage does not automatically mean the transfer failed. Check the current DNS provider, expiration, and hosting separately.
What to send support: Include the exact domain, order number, when the transfer was submitted, and the relevant error or status. Never include the authorization code in an ordinary screenshot or public message. Ask staff how to provide sensitive information if it is needed.
