How to request help with an expired domain or restoration

An expired domain can stop serving your website and email even when hosting is still paid. Act promptly: the available recovery action depends on the extension, registrar, and current registry state.

1. Open My Account > Domains and select the domain. Check its status and expiration. If it is registered elsewhere, contact its current registrar immediately.
2. For a managed domain, open Renewals & transfer. If ordinary renewal is offered, review the current quote. If Request restoration review appears, submit that request and include any relevant order information.
3. Wait for staff to confirm eligibility and the actual retail restoration quote. A review request is not a completed restoration.
4. When a reviewed quote is available, inspect it and use Pay reviewed quote if you choose to proceed. Review the full invoice total and taxes.
5. Keep monitoring the restoration status. Paying the invoice starts the fulfillment follow-up; staff must complete and verify the registrar restoration separately.
6. After confirmation, check that the domain is active with a future expiration, then test DNS, the website, and incoming and outgoing email.

There is no universal grace-period promise: A normal expired state, a redemption state, and a final deletion state are different. Covered generic registries provide a 30-day redemption period following deletion, but this is not a promise that every domain has 30 days of ordinary renewal immediately after expiration. If restoration cannot be confirmed: Contact support immediately with the domain and restoration order. Do not purchase another restoration or assume that payment has already recovered the name. A paid exception needs staff review of fulfillment or the next billing action.

Can I transfer it instead? A domain in redemption generally needs restoration at the current registrar before transfer. A domain that has reached final deletion may no longer be recoverable. Do not depend on re-registering it later; another party may obtain it.
