The Control Center's hosting credentials belong to your Virtualmin owner account. They are separate from your customer-account password. Websites within one hosting service share the owner login, so check which service you selected before making a change.
Open Virtualmin #
- Sign in to My Account → Hosting services, find your active service, and expand Control panel access.
- Under Hosting login, choose One-click login for a temporary sign-in link. Keep it private; it expires after five minutes and should not be bookmarked.
- For manual sign-in, choose Control Panel and enter the displayed Username and your current hosting password. If one-click access fails, the service directs you back to manual access.

Show or copy a saved password #
Choose Show password when available, then Copy password if needed. Save it in a password manager. The visible password clears after one minute or when you leave the tab; copied clipboard contents do not clear automatically.
Older accounts may have no saved password. Also, a password changed directly in Virtualmin does not update the saved Control Center copy. If the saved password fails, check your current password records or use one-click access before deciding to replace it.
Generate a replacement #
- Identify any FTP, SSH, email, or database clients that share the hosting owner's credentials. Plan to update them after the change.
- Expand Generate a new password, read the explanation, and check I understand and want to replace this hosting password.
- Select Generate password once and wait for confirmation. This replaces the hosting owner password; it does not change your customer-account password or every separately created user password.
- Save the confirmed replacement and update applications that use it. Test a fresh manual Virtualmin login and any affected services.
Troubleshooting #
Password actions require an active, paid, unexpired service and working account verification. Enable JavaScript for reveal and generation controls; the normal panel link and one-click login do not require it.
If a reset cannot be confirmed, follow the displayed instructions and contact support rather than issuing repeated resets. Requests are limited to one per minute. Send the service reference and error without passwords or temporary login links. Ask support about certificate warnings before entering credentials.
